If you need to research specific companies, here are some links and tips to help you get started.
Company websites contain a wealth of information, not only about the company concerned, but also about the general industry and market conditions. However, remember that companies generally develop their websites with the underlying aim of presenting a profitable image to the outside world. Because of this, there may be some bias in the way the information is presented.
Each country has its own regulations relating to companies, from how a company can be registered, to legal documents required to be submitted, and to how companies can be dissolved. If the company you want to research is privately owned, then you may need to contact the registration organization in the relevant country. The UK Institute of Chartered Accountants has a list of organizations on its website, and I've put links to a few of the most well known organizations below. Contact us if you're not sure about the status of the company you're researching.
France - EURIDILE
Monaco - Direction de l'Expansion Economique
UK - Companies House
USA - Securities and Exchange Commission - only public companies.
