New tourism logo

Monaco's Tourist Office unveiled its new logo on 3rd Nov.

DTC logo

According to Michel Bouquier, Head of Monaco's Direction du Tourisme et des Congres (DTC), it's a new logo for a new era. The design was chosen from a list of 11 put forward by communications agencies, and is being used to promote Monaco around the world. It's just one of the 300 measures announced as part of the DTC's 5 year strategy that we reported on in January.

Palace, port, tete de chien

Bouquier stated 'we want to position Monaco as the leading brand in luxury and business tourism.' By re-designing the logo The Principality aims to attract new clients and reflect values such as eco-friendly tourism, luxury and quality.

The design focuses on the word Monaco. In the words of the tourist office official press release, the:

'distinctive typography [...] combines the impact and clarity of modern print with the gracious curves of formal calligraphy… not unlike traditional classic penmanship. The letters may remind you of a master engraver's hallmark or the links of a deluxe watch chain.'

A small red square at the lower right edge, 'represents Monaco's coat of arms… the Principality in all its glory', but is also easily adapted to the Internet and web 2.0 according to Bouquier.
