One way system retained

It was only supposed to be temporary, but the one way section of boulevard des Moulins is to stay.

A one way system was installed on a section of boulevard des Moulins earlier in 2010 in order to carry out the first phase of work on lighting and cabling systems. The work has finished, but the traffic diversion onto avenues Saint Charles and Saint Laurent has been so successful that it's to be retained. Businesses in the area have agreed to keep the traffic system in place for a year, and Gilles Tonelli of the Government Planning Department has announced that doing so means 23 light vehicle parking spaces will be created, as well as 50 metres of space for bikes and motorcycles, and 3 delivery bays.

To make the route better for buses, work will take place from 3rd to 21st January on the Saint Charles square, and to reduce the width of the pavement on avenue Saint Charles. Duing this period, the 2 way system will be reinstated on boulevard des Moulins for heavy vehicles.

Work will continiue on the electricity cables and water pipes in the section between avenue Saint Laurent and Place des Moulins. Starting 10th January and finishing 4th April, traffic circulation will be affected.
