The inaugural meeting of the Monaco Shipping Event took place at the Monaco Yacht Club in the middle of June.

Over 300 guests gathered at the gala dinner, including the members of the Chambre Monegasque du Shipping (CMS), which organized the event. A relatively new federation, the CMS was established in 2006 and today has 25 members out of the 40 companies operating in Monaco. The shipping industry is growing to be an important sector, with some 800 people employed and a turnover representing approx. 5% of the economy.

A further 4 editions of the Monaco Shipping Event are planned to take place every other year up to 2017.
