Black Friday for traffic

Avoid the roads tomorrow afternoon.

Road works and new layouts are causing chaos on the western side of Monaco around Place d'Armes, where there are frequent traffic jams on rue Grimaldi and boulevard Albert 1er. According to Christian Palmaro, head of Monaco's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Service around 108,000 vehicles drive through the Principality each day. The quietest time is early, between 7:00 and 8:00. After this, there's a large influx of tourists later in the morning, but by far the worst time of day to be on the roads is between 16:30 and 18:30, when both tourists and workers are attempting to leave.

The Road Traffic Service is expecting tomorrow to be so bad that it's being referred to as black Friday. Along with the usual road use, a large influx of Italian drivers is expected due to the UEFA Super Cup Final.
